Maybe the Repubs could repeal Obamacare, but it won’t be easy and it won’t be pretty

“Yes, if Romney wins the White House and his Republican allies retake the Senate, he could shred most of President Barack Obama’s health care law without having to overpower a Democratic filibuster. But it won’t be as easy as some Republicans portend, and it certainly won’t be quick.

“Why? Because any realistic effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act — as opposed to last week’s quixotic vote in the GOP-controlled House — is sure to get jumbled together with lots of other issues, including Medicare, taxes, food stamps and defense spending.

“And that’s because Republicans have to first pass a budget.”

(I read Andrew Taylor’s article “Repealing Obama’s health care law won’t be easy” in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle Online. [http://www.wyomingnews.com/articles/2012/07/16/ap/headlines/us_repealing_obamacare_for_real.txt] but the link is now dead. It appears that the AP pulls their articles after a few days.)

Romney may have perjured himself on Bain documents

Mitt Romney has repeatedly claimed that he was gone from Bain Capital when it sent jobs overseas.

But documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission have now come to light showing that Romney was in charge of Bain from 1999 to 2001, a period in which the company outsourced jobs and ran companies that fell into bankruptcy.

Romney has tried to distance himself from this period in Bain’s history, saying on financial disclosure forms he had no active role in Bain as of February 1999.

But at least three times since then, Bain listed Romney as the company’s “controlling person,” as well as its “sole shareholder, sole director, chief executive officer and president.” And one of those documents — as late as February 2001 — lists Romney’s “principal occupation” as Bain’s managing director.

But serial liar Romney has now gone on TV claiming that Obama is the one distorting the truth.

Oh Mitt, just bite me already.

Romney fundraiser under fire

Robert Diamond, who was CEO of Barclays Bank until he was forced to resign over Barclays’ role in falsifying bank interest rate data, is also a key Romney “bundler.” Now he has stepped aside from an upcoming Romney fundraising event.

Think that Romney is embarrassed that Diamond’s bank was fined $450 million for misconduct? Nah. Instead, Mitt promises to repeal the Dodd-Frank bank and financial regulation law if elected.

As usual, Mitt, you can Bite Me.

Gov. Scott Walker rebukes Romney

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney recently said that Wisconsinites who voted down the recall of Gov. Scott Walker had, in doing so, rejected the hiring of more teachers, police officers and firefighters.

Wisconsin governor Scott Walker (here at BiteMe.ME, we call him the anti-Christ) begs to differ: “I know in my state our reform allowed us to protect firefighters, police officers and teachers; that’s not what I think when I think of big government,” said Walker on “Face the Nation.”

Maybe Walker is smarter than he looks.

Top Romney advisor harps on birther claim

Donald Trump, financial whiz and prominent member of the Romney inner circle, is keeping the question of Obama’s birth front and center in the media. Even Newt Gingrich’s heroic attempt to tamp down the story (“We believe that this is an American-born, job-killing president.”) was unable to keep The Donald off of the evening news.

Speaker John Boehner wants to take focus off of gay marriage. Mitt says, “Fat chance!”

House Speaker John Boehner is desperate to get attention off of gay marriage. While it was a nifty way to raise funds and stir up the core of the Republican Party, when it comes to getting the votes of undecided voters, it stinks. Unfortunately, Boehner’s candidate, Mitt Romney, went off message at a campaign stop in Oklahoma City yesterday. “I have the same view that I’ve had since running for office . . . my view is that marriage itself is a relationship between a man and a woman” quoth the Mitt.

Mitt Romney scores endorsement of General Admiral Aladeen of Wadiya

Along with the illustrious Ted Nugent, Mitt Romney now has the endorsement of General Admiral Aladeen, Dictator of Wadiya. Aladeen said in a press conference, “Mitchell Romney . . .has the makings of a great dictator. He is incredibly wealthy but pays no taxes. And it’s not much of a leap to go from firing people to firing squads.”

Romney campaign spokesman Ryan Williams responded, “While we don’t agree with every one of Dictator Aladeen’s remarks, we stand by his right to his opinions and are appreciative of all the support he has shown to Governor Romney.”

Ok, I admit that Williams never actually said that. But it sure sounds like the kind of wishy-washy statement Romney would issue.
