Romney demonstrates foreign policy incompetence

When rioters attacked the US embassy in Egypt, embassy officials said, “We like Islam and the Prophet. Really!” When Mitt Romney heard that, he went apeshit:

“I’m outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi, [Ed note: it wasn’t a consulate worker, but the Ambassador]” Romney said. “It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”

If Obama is for it, Mitt Romney is against it

“It isn’t fair to say Mitt Romney doesn’t have a position on Afghanistan,” Kerry said. “He has every position. He was against setting a date for withdrawal — then he said it was right — and then he left the impression that maybe it was wrong to leave this soon. He said it was ‘tragic’ to leave Iraq, and then he said it was fine. He said we should’ve intervened in Libya sooner. Then he ran down a hallway to run away from the reporters asking questions. Then he said the intervention was too aggressive. Then he said the world was a ‘better place’ because the intervention succeeded. Talk about being for it before you were against it!”

The Federal Bailout That Saved Mitt Romney

‘Mitt Romney likes to say he won’t “apologize” for his success in business. But what he never says is “thank you” – to the American people – for the federal bailout of Bain & Company that made so much of his outsize wealth possible.’

Failure is an orphan; success has a million parents

Now that Romney has become the official Republican candidate for President, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is claiming he was the first governor to endorse Mitt Romney. Ha! He was beaten to the punch by Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman and Idaho Gov. Butch Otter — by about four months.

Bite me, Chris.

Texans join uprising against RNC hegemony

“Republicans from Texas are leading a mutiny at their national nominating convention in Tampa and fighting proposed rule changes that they say amount to a power grab by entrenched GOP operatives at the expense of grassroots activism.

“The issue could explode in a floor fight Tuesday, just after Republican leaders open the first full day of the convention and turn to consider party rules. Although the process is usually a quiet one, the dispute over the new delegate selection process proposal advanced by Mitt Romney supporters threatens to shine a spotlight on the schism.”

When will Romney balance the budget? Paul Ryan says “We haven’t run the numbers”

‘Last night, newly ensconced Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan sat down for his first solo interview with Fox News’ Brit Hume and let slip an admission about Mitt Romney’s budget plan — an admission that’s receiving surprisingly little press attention. Asked by Hume when the Romney plan would balance the budget, Ryan said he didn’t know because “we haven’t run the numbers on that specific plan.”‘

Bat Boy to be Romney’s VP pick

‘According to sources close to the Romney camp,  Bat Boy could get the nod as soon as this week.  Campaign insiders say that Mitt Romney has looked at Marco Rubio, Condoleezza Rice, Rob Portman and Chris Christie as possible running mates, but he feels that Bat Boy will give him the “sizzle” his campaign sorely needs.’

Gosh, I love the Weekly World News. And a tip of the Hatlo hat to MrMild for this item.

Romney campaign says Obama should learn to be an American

One of Mitt Romney’s key advisers, former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu recently lashed out against President Obama, saying “I wish the president would learn how to be an American.”

Sununu later issued a tepid retraction, but Mitt Romney has refused to disavow the attack.
