Good news and bad news on the robotics front

The good news is that robots will do things like dispense medications more accurately and at a lower cost. The bad news is that you’re going to lose your job to a robot, then lose your health insurance and you won’t be able to afford the prescriptions anyway.

But thanks to the Republicans, you’ll be able to buy a gun at the corner mini-mart and use that to cover any shortfall. What a country!

Google’s Sergey Brin lies like a Republican

Brin says that Facebook and Apple are a threat to Internet freedom. Yeah, right. Read what James Whittaker, former Engineering Director at Google, says:

The Google I was passionate about was a technology company that empowered its employees to innovate. The Google I left was an advertising company with a single corporate-mandated focus.

Does the FBI use foreign governments to torture American citizens?

It seems that, under Obama, the US has outsourced its torture jobs. And we’re no longer just torturing foreign nationals, now we torture American citizens, too. Maybe Sarah Palin had a point when she asked “How’s that hope-y, change-y thing working out for you?”

Georgia to imitate Florida with costly drug-testing law

Florida’s program to drug-test welfare recipients is a costly failure. So what is Georgia doing? They’re following suit and adopting their own program to drug-test welfare recipients. Who will benefit? Probably the testing companies.

NYC transit workers want to “Stand your ground”

Seeing how well it worked for Trayvon Martin and, for that matter, George Zimmerman, NY State Senator Eric Adams now wants transit workers to be armed with Tasers. And the transit workers’ union agrees.

Here at BiteMe.Me, we think that anyone who attacks a transit worker should be punished to the full extent of the law, but handing out weapons in a major city is just plain stupid.

Cuomo keeping close tabs on the press

BuzzFeed has apparently been rooting around in NY Governor Andrew Cuomo’s trash recently, and they found a memo from Cuomo’s Communications Director outlining what he doesn’t like about reporter Liz Benjamin’s coverage of the governor.

It’s dirty work and AJ Weberman must have been busy, so we’re glad that BuzzFeed took on the task.

I had never heard of Liz Benjamin before this, but if she’s important enough that Cuomo’s people demanded a meeting with her employer, then she’s important enough for us to start reading. Here’s the link and have fun: Capital Tonight by Liz Benjamin.

Conservative hack Chris Christie admits he was a Bush political appointee

Chris Christie, former corporate lobbyist, George W. Bush campaign operative, who probably got appointed U.S. Attorney because Karl Rove approved of him in the midst of Bush’s brazen politicization of the U.S. Attorneys, can BITE ME.

U.S. Attorneys are supposed to represent the People of the United States of America, not the President. But Christie was a proud Bush operative when serving as U.S. Attorney.

You think that’s just me blowing steam? Not a chance. Christie confirmed it at the recent President George W. Bush Institute, where he admitted that he was a Bush political appointee: “I was a proud member of the Bush administration for seven years.”

Secret Service agents patronized prostitutes — caught because they wouldn’t pay!

Hard to believe . . . 11 Secret Service agents fly to Columbia in advance of Obama’s visit, check into a hotel and order up an exaltation of prostitutes. Then one decides NOT TO PAY. We, here at BiteMe.ME, are models of rectitude and believe that one who does not pay for services rendered can BITE ME.

Anyway, the wronged prostitute went to the police, the police sent a report to the embassy, the embassy reported to Washington, and the agents wound up in a world of hurt.

Ronald Kessler, called by the Daily News ‘one of the leading experts on the Secret Service’ said . . . “Number one, it is against basic ethics to go to a prostitute, [n]umber two, it is incredibly embarrassing to the White House. And number three, [i]t could leave them open to blackmail and a possible assassination attempt.” We’re not experts on the Secret Service, but we would have made Number one, “Pay your bills, asshole.”

One thing still bothers us here at BiteMe Central: How did Pete King, a man obsessed with bringing down President Obama, get this story before we did? Does he have covert sources in the Secret Service or maybe in Columbia?

Newt Gingrich says Fox News has been for Romney all through campaign

I’d been thinking of Rick Santorum as the Great Whiner, but Newt is challenging him for the title.

“I think Fox has been for Romney all the way through,” Gingrich said, according to Real Clear Politics. “In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than Fox this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of Fox, and we’re more likely to get distortion out of Fox. That’s just a fact.”

I give Mrs. Gingrich credit for standing by her man, though. It can’t be easy.
