Condominiums are latest battleground in Christmas wars

For years, the Malibu East Condominiums in Chicago had a Christmas tree and menorah in the lobby. But Leo Harkins, an Orthodox Christian, wanted to add a creche. When the condo board wouldn’t agree, the guy filed a housing discrimination complaint with the Illinois Department of Human Rights. Final settlement: only the Christmas tree (it’s a secular symbol) in the lobby; all other religious symbols go in the 4th floor community room.
