A Texas law aimed at restricting abortions, which took effect in 2013, has led to more women trying to end a pregnancy on their own, while the number of clinical procedures in the state has declined, according to a study released on Tuesday.
And conservatives everywhere are thinking, “Thank God we’ve gone back to the good old days when poor women used coat hangers and the daughters of the rich were sent for a vacation at a ‘clinic’ in Switzerland.”

Setting aside my personal feelings about abortion, “the daughters of the rich will go to Switzerland while the daughters of the poor will use coat hangers” has always struck me as about the weakest argument pro-choice people can make. There are all manner of things that, when illegal, rich people can access more than poor people. By this logic, we shouldn’t have laws against cocaine, either, since the rich can find ways to skirt the prohibition.
When the rich support laws which they won’t be subject to, I mock them.
You make an interesting point. Perhaps I should narrow my focus to the Bushes of the world and broaden the topic to any kind of prohibition.
