Bill Maher says Paul Ryan and Rand Paul ruined Libertarianism for him

“To everyone who keeps trying to shame me about abandoning my Libertarian moorings, my message is this: I didn’t go nuts, this movement did. Like when you see a stop light, your reaction should be ‘Great, an easy way to ensure we don’t all crash into each other,’ not, ‘How dare the government tell me when I can and cannot go!”

Libertarianism has a long and honorable history in the United States, but it’s not very practical for running a complex, crowded, industrial country. Glad to see that Bill finally figured that out.

Anti-UN Ron Paul seeks UN help to seize domain name

Former Congressman Ron Paul, who opposes US involvement in the United Nations, has filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization, a UN agency, to seize the domain names RonPaul.com and RonPaul.org from a group of his supporters.

They offered to sell him the domains, but Paul chose to seek government help to avoid paying the price.

What an asshole.

“Judicial restraint” my ass

“The Supreme Court’s conservative justices said Wednesday they are prepared to strike down President Obama’s healthcare law entirely.”

The gummint can force me to buy auto insurance just to drive my damn car. They can make me pay taxes for their idiot wars. They can dictate healthcare decisions (I can get an abortion if I submit to a vaginal sonogram). They can take and keep my DNA for damn near forever. But, thanks to the guys in the black robes, they can’t make me buy health insurance. Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, we’re free at last!

The flood that just swallowed your shore house is a hoax

“Global warming deniers can throw around all the ‘incriminating’ emails and scientific data they want, but when a flood tide swallows the Borgata it’ll be a lot harder to ignore the spectre of global climate change. Busloads of seniors floating down the parkway weighed down by rolls of quarters in their giant oversized purses would be bad PR for New Jersey’s top gaming destination. I hope Trump has flood insurance.”

Santorum’s political record indicates socialist tendencies

According to a column in The Independent Florida Alligator, Santorum said in 2006: “This idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues … that is not how traditional conservatives view the world.”

Columnist Thomas Ryan comments:

“Why would anyone who believes in shrinking government think the government should manage family life and the choices of consenting adults in the privacy of their own homes?

“In addition to his urges to regulate personal behavior, Santorum has referred to the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell as “social experimentation with our military right now, and that’s tragic.”

“If Santorum were a real small-government guy, he wouldn’t be following in the homophobic footsteps of current and former communist states in which homosexuality is illegal.”

You tell ’em, Tom!
