Smear site against former Scientologist Leah Remini registered

Scientology is the greatest boon to mankind since the invention of sliced bread. Why would Scientologists establish websites to smear former members of the church? It just doesn’t make sense. The websites referred to in the article are probably just a “Joe Job” designed to make Scientology look bad.

Attorney Mark O’Mara says if George Zimmerman were Black ‘He never would’ve been charged with a crime’

During the post-trial press conference, Zimmerman’s defense attorney, Mark O’Mara, remarked that if his client were black, “he never would’ve been charged with a crime.”

And in what alternate universe would that be?

Tyson Gay — first athlete to not whine, deny or sue over positive PED test results

US sprinter Tyson Gay came up positive on a drug test. He’s not planning to sue or slander anyone — unlike some people we could name.

Gay said, “I have to go over everything with USADA first. I will take whatever punishment I get like a man. I do realize and respect what I put in my body and it is my responsibility. I’m going to be honest with USADA, about everything, everybody I’ve been with, every supplement I’ve ever taken, every company I’ve ever dealt with, everything.”

The USADA said it “appreciates his approach to handling this situation and his choice to voluntarily remove himself from competition while the full facts surrounding his test are evaluated.”

All of which makes him a much finer person than Lance Armstrong.

At Bloomberg “transfer” schools, more students drop out than graduate

“The city’s second-chance high schools saw more students drop out than graduate in 2011-12 — a major drop in performance compared to a year earlier, a Post analysis found.”

Not only does Bloomberg think his mayoralty has been a great education success, so do several of the people running the succeed him.

Bloomberg’s education department could learn a thing or two

“In his 2009 book Drive, author Daniel Pink examined decades of social experiments that described [job satisfaction] in terms of “extrinsic” and “intrinsic” motivators. The “extrinsic” motivators consist of traditional carrot and stick rewards such as cash bonuses or punishment – the reward environment in which waiters work.

“The “intrinsic” motivators are internal desires to do good work or create a successful product – the goal of many people working in the theatre. Pink’s argument is that, in the modern workplace, the “extrinsic” system of rewards is often a less effective motivator, but one on which too many managers still rely. In fact, there is no greater myth in managing a team or company than believing financial compensation is a sufficient incentive to engage and retain top talent and drive high performance.”

Bloomberg seems to think that he can bully or bribe teachers into doing a better job. To date, he’s been proven wrong.

Berlusconi Mulls New York Race

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said today that he was considering running for office in New York City. He announced his intentions after several local polls showed him with a higher approval rating than the candidates currently on offer in the city.

“In Italy, you make one little mistake, they throw you in jail seven years,” he said. “New Yorkers are much more forgiving.”

Bloomberg plans to use wealth to fight City Council stop-and-frisk foes

When New York City Mayor Bloomberg’s political action committee, Independence USA, spent $12 million last year to campaign against City Council members who opposed gun control and gay marriage, I thought it was pretty neat.

Now it comes back to bite me in the ass.

According to the NY Post, Bloomberg is planning to use some of his fortune to fight against the re-election of councilmembers who vote to override his veto of a bill that curtails stop-and-frisk.

Suddenly, his throwing his weight around doesn’t seem fair.
