Top Texas Republicans Call For More Guns, Fortified Schools, Armed Teachers After Attack

On May 24, 2022, a gunman opened fire inside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killing at least 19 children and two teachers.

[Afterwards,] GOP lawmakers refused to support the possibility of any gun control measures as the nation reels in the wake of the worst school shooting since the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012. Instead, the elected officials called for more armed teachers and even fortified schools meant to keep bad actors away from children, saying laws to limit access to firearms don’t work.

. . .

Police said the 18-year-old who attacked the school, identified as Salvador Ramos, was wearing body armor that made him more difficult to stop after he crashed his car through a barricade near Robb Elementary School. At least two law enforcement officers tried to engage him and were injured in the shooting, The New York Times reported.

As usual, Texas Republicans are just not up to the task. They always propose these halfway solutions, when the most effective way to stop these school shootings is to arm the students — preferably with armor-piercing bullets. A couple instances of 8-year olds turning an attempted shooter into swiss cheese and this will stop for good!

Jimmy Kimmel Reveals What Ted Cruz Really Masturbates to: ‘Poor People Without Health Care’

Ted Cruz’s Twitter account “liked” a porn video; later Cruz said it was a mistake resulting from a “staffing issue.” Sure, tell me another one.

In response, Jimmy Kimmel explained that ‘Ted Cruz masturbates to pictures of poor people without health care.’ Burn! (Watch the Kimmel video here: Kimmel Reveals What Ted Cruz Really Masturbates to: ‘Poor People Without Health Care’ (Video).

Cory Chase, the actress in the porn video, says that Cruz “pirated that video. He should have paid Reality Kings for a subscription.” Double burn!

God mocks Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, announced last year that Ted had decided to run for president after God spoke to Ted’s wife, Heidi.

Ha ha! God was only fooling!

It turns out that the Almighty wants Donald Trump to be the Republican candidate and maybe — God help us — President.

As for Hillary and Bernie, it looks like God is still undecided.

I used to think Newt Gingrich was the Devil. What was I thinking?

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R) on Monday stunned the hosts of Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” by charging that their show essentially “invented” Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy.

Remember when Newt was the crazy old coot of the Republican Party? Compared to more recent Republican leaders (e.g., Trump, Cruz, Carson, and Santorum) he now seems like the epitome of political sanity.

Ted Cruz wants real journalists like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh to moderate future GOP debates

Source: Cruz: Let ‘real journalists’ Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh host GOP debates instead of ‘left wing operatives’

Under Cruz’s plan . . .

you’d have moderators that were trying to help conservatives make a decision who’s going to be the best and strongest conservative to represent us and win, who is the proven conservative, the consistent conservative.

It actually sounds like an interesting idea. But the Bitemaster thinks they should go one better. Conservatives throughout the country should elect non-aligned delegates to a convention; at the convention the delegates would hear from the aspiring candidates and select the party’s candidate for President.

Rep. Steve King sets Pope Francis straight

Abortion and gay marriage? Yes. Inequality and climate change? No.

Iowa Congressman Steve King has explained what Pope Francis should talk about when he addresses Congress today:

I’m hopeful that Pope Francis will speak to these two issues: One is the church’s unfailing and steadfast opposition to abortion, the position that life begins at the moment of conception and it ends at natural death, and the dignity of every human person. That’s a position of the Roman Catholic Church that’s really unassailable and I’m hopeful that that position will be reiterated from the floor of Congress next week. I’m looking forward to that. Second component that is so strong among the Catholic Church is the position of marriage, and it being between a man and a woman.

King is an idiot.

Ted Cruz is more nuanced, but says about the same thing.

What’s the big deal when two gay businessmen have dinner with Ted Cruz?

After playing host to Senator Ted Cruz, the hoteliers Ian Reisner and Mati Weiderpass come under fire from gay activists.

In April, Ian Reisner and Mati Weiderpass held a dinner for Sen. Ted Cruz, the Presidential candidate, and gave him a campaign contribution. The whole gay world promptly blew a gasket.

But it wasn’t Cruz’s anti-gay and anti-marriage-equality positions that brought Reisner and Weiderpass into the Cruz camp. Rich dudes like them are attracted to politicians who will protect their money and power.

So where does Cruz stand on some of the issues that concern Reisner and Weiderpass? Let’s have a look:

  • against the Affordable Care Act
  • in favor of the Keystone pipeline
  • believes that climate change is not man-made
  • against increasing the national debt
  • advocates abolition of the IRS

If I were a cynical rich asshole, I’d probably support Cruz, too.

Donald Trump Redirects His Birther Fire At Ted Cruz

“He’s got a hurdle that nobody else seems to have at this moment. It’s a hurdle and somebody could certainly look at it very seriously. He was born in Canada,” Trump said in an interview with myfoxny.com, adding that “you’re supposed to be born in this country.”

I don’t think much of The Donald (actually, I think he’s an asshole) but if he gives Cruz the same as he gave Obama, I’m OK with that.
