Mayor Michael Bloomberg says shortage of affordable housing is a “good sign”

‘On the topic of those struggling to find affordable housing in his city, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is quick to find the silver lining.

‘ “Somebody said that there’s not enough housing. That’s a good sign,” he argued during his weekly Friday morning radio sit-down with WOR’s John Gambling.

‘Mr. Bloomberg, a billionaire who lives in a multi-million-dollar townhouse on the Upper East Side, said the high demand means the city is on the right track.’

And somewhere Joe Lhota is wondering why he didn’t think of it first.

Democratic Senate aide: “We are so totally, completely winning this thing that naturally it means we’re gonna cave, right?”

From the HuffPo:

For Senate Democrats, the surest sign the party is on the brink of handing significant concessions to Republicans is that Democrats are so clearly winning the struggle.. . . A Senate Democratic leadership aide, who has been buoyed throughout the showdown by the toughness displayed by the president, said he was getting signals that the White House is going soft.

Gov. Christie cracks down on salary and perks for public school employees but gives sweatheart deals to schools for disabled students

In New Jersey, disabled students often go to private schools funded by taxpayer dollars. But, according to a Star-Ledger investigation, costs at these schools go largely unchecked and are inflated by nepotism and self-dealing.

Christie thinks these school are a great idea since they’re private, unlike the wasteful public school system. (Prof. H. O. Hell notes that at least Christie is supporting education for disabled kids.)

ProEnglish Group Has Trouble Writing Proper English

You’re not going to be surprised to learn that an English-as-the-official-language group is having trouble with their spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Mind you, your Bitemaster does not think that having an official language is always a bad thing, but when it’s promoted by a bunch of racists, he proclaims, “Bite me!”

Christian delusions are driving the GOP insane – Salon.com

Why are the Republicans risking worldwide financial meltdown? According to Amanda Marcotte in Salon, Republicans believe a meltdown is a reasonable price to pay for avoiding God’s wrath at Obama, the Affordable Care Act, gay marriage, abortion, contraception and welfare for poor people:

The Tea Party is actually driven primarily by fundamentalist Christians whose penchant for magical thinking and belief that they’re being guided by divine forces makes it tough for them to see the real world as it is.

Miley Cyrus can bite me

Miley Cyrus in her interview with Matt Lauer:

“I heard when you turn 40 things start to go a little less sexual, so probably around 40, around that time, I heard that’s when people don’t have sex anymore.” When Lauer said that he’s 55, Cyrus replied,  “Well, then you’re really, definitely not sexual.”

Republicans bring about end of American exceptionalism

The Repubs, who are the biggest boosters of American exceptionalism, are on the road to permanently destroying America’s preeminent role in world affairs. Secretary of State Kerry says, “I believe that those standing in the way (of a resolution) need to think long and hard about the message that we send to the world when we can’t get our own act together.”

It looks like, if the Repubs don’t get their own way, they’ll fuck it up for everyone. And that’s why we say BITE ME!
